Dear Friends,
When I decided to shut my campaign down for US Congress, one of the biggest fears I had was that no Republican in the 12th district would step forward and commit to running the kind of campaign it would take to win in November. I knew there might be some ambitious people who would put their finger in the wind, see the opportunity and try to seize it, but I didn’t see anyone willing to put their own resources into a campaign, or who would be willing to raise the kind of money it will take to win in November.
Until I spoke to Ray McKinney.
Ray and I have spoken several times, and I respect and admire not just his decision, but the process he used in deciding to run for the nomination. He spoke to other candidates, and was very clear that he did not want to run, but that unless a viable, credible candidate emerged, Ray would run. He agreed to stay out until fundraising benchmarks were hit. The figure was $100,000 by March. When no candidate met that goal, Ray pledged his own money, and has qualified as a candidate.
I respect a man who will be upfront with others, especially in politics. Frankly, that’s exactly the kind of character we need all our representatives to have. Ray agreed to let others have a chance to prove they were serious, and only made up his mind to run when it become apparent that there were no other candidates with a chance to run the kind of campaign it will take to win the 12th district back for Republicans.
Ray is the best chance we Republicans have to take back this seat from the liberal Democrats, get rid of Nancy Pelosi’s puppet, and restore some real representation for everyone in the 12th district. I’m going to do everything I can to help Ray in his campaign, and I’m going to be asking for your support as well. There is no “if” in this situation. Ray’s for real, and he can do it.
I thank you for the support you have shown me during my time. I’m asking that you give at least that same level of support to Ray McKinney.
Sincerely,
Wayne Mosley, M.D.
